Oh…December is over. I ended up sitting in my living room to work on my album so I didn’t film as much as I would have liked to, but I am very happy to say that as of today I am working on day 28! I have plans for several of the days that are left and just need to find the time to do them. I do plan to do a video of all of the pages in the end. Here were the latest videos that I posted for the album:
December seems to be rolling along like the rest of the year, too fast! I have been doing pretty good with keeping up with my pages though and have enjoyed recording the process. There are so many ladies out there sharing their process…it’s amazing to be able to share our love for this craft through video! I hope you are all enjoying the month, the holiday season and keep smiling everyone 🙂 Santa is on his way!!
December started off on a sad note for me. My sweet beagle Annabelle passed away on November 30th. I have been feeling so sad lately and haven’t really wanted to be in my scraproom. I did bring some things out to the living room and worked on my December Daily a little, but more than the crafting of December, I need to find some joy in the month. I think I am starting to feel a little more normal and have started to get my excitement for December back. I did a video yesterday showing my progress so far and did some crafting on a couple of pages. Hope you enjoy!
How are you doing on your December Daily? Hope you are having a great month!
As much as I don’t like how fast time flies, I am always so excited when December rolls around so I can create an album for the month about the things my family does, traditions we share and showcase beautiful photos of the winter snow. I live in Minnesota and we do tend to have some beautiful winters here. 🙂
Here are some details about how my project will work:
I use a mix of prompts given through the Journal Your Christmas class by Shimelle; some of my own prompts; and various stories about things that happen throughout the month. I do not allow myself to get stressed out about this project and worry if a prompt or story ends up on the right day (for instance if I take a photo on December 6th but it’s scrapped on the #10 page, I don’t worry about it). I also do not worry about taking a photo each day. I have had years where the month was difficult and there just wasn’t a lot going on so one or two of the pages might just be a decorated page with the number. It’s not a huge deal to me as long as I get the stories scrapped that I really want to remember.
Usually each year I pick one December Daily kit from a kit club or site and then add several supplies to it with a big order from A Cherry On Top or a trip to one of the local craft stores…sometimes both 🙂 This year I decided to go with two December Daily kits – One from Scraptastic Kit Club called the Stocking Stuffer kit and one from Hip Kit called December Documented. Both kits have a similar color scheme and use a lot of their own designs along with a lot of Pinkfresh Studios new Holiday line. Needless to say, I have a massive amount of supplies. Here is a glimpse of some of them while I was sorting them out:
For an album, I will be using the 6 x 8 red with white polka dot Becky Higgens Project Life album.
For me, the page numbers are my starting point. I like to come up with what I will use for the page numbers and then prepare them all for the month. I like to complete a page for the whole month of December and sometimes go into the first week or so of January. This year I will be using the Pinkfresh Studio Acetate Squares. I have two packs which is convenient since the pack only goes from 1 – 25. I will mix the packages up and add some extra touches to the cards so that when I have to renumber some of them it won’t look odd. I like the page numbers to be cohesive throughout the album.
Here is a quick video on how I made that happen:
So this is where I am at with my December daily. Only a few more days before the magical month begins! Hope you are getting excited to start yours!
